Becoming Empowered People
by Wendy Collier, B. Ed.
Being an empowered, enlightened person in the new millennium means being more than a “do-it-all-super-person”. It means being who we are and who we were meant to be.
Now is the time for all of us to put the brakes on our fast-track lives. So stop, take a breath and decide where in your life you need to start making new choices to create a new experience. It means taking the time to discover what your gifts and talents are, and we all have them in abundance. You will need to push yourself to do uncomfortable things like; saying “no”, setting boundaries, asking for help and accepting help. It requires you to commit to taking care of you, so you can be the best mom, the best wife, the best daughter, the best friend, the best employee and ultimately the best you.
I know you have the power to do this, now you need to believe that you have that power. My mission is to help you find that power. To discover the shape, the size, the color, the intricate details of what makes your power so unique. No one else has this particular power but you. Everyone has their own kind of power, just like we all have our distinguishing fingerprints.
Finding your unique power is like a scavenger hunt. Sometimes, it will be right in front of you, sometimes you’ll have to dig through layers of rubble to get to it. There may be times when you’ll be so frustrated and tired you’ll want to quit. My experiences have shown me that giving up, quitting, and withdrawing only brings me pain and unhappiness. You cannot quit because that means giving up on you! We all lose if that happens!
No matter how tough it gets, you need to persevere, just like you would if you were doing something challenging for someone you loved. We would do anything for someone we loved but when it comes to us, we take a “back seat”. We cannot afford to do that anymore, our talents, skills and unique gifts are needed.
I know you have it within you to take this journey. I know because I’ve spent the past 15 years going from a disempowered life to an empowered one. Along the way there were many struggles but it was worth it. My life is now filled with more happiness, more love, more positive relationships, and more abundance. This is all due to the fact that I am living a life that I designed to fit who I am and what I want in my life.
The definition of becoming is “to grow to be”, and the definition of empower is to “enable, permit”. So, for you to become an empowered person, requires that you give yourself permission to learn and grow so you can be the “ultimate you”.
This is a whole new ball game, and you get to stand on the pitcher’s mound, where you can see everything that is going on around you. This is where you will hear the cheers from your personal support team. When it’s your turn to bat, you get to decide how to deal with the curveballs that life throws us.
You have the power to strike out or hit a home run! Aim for the fence, we'll show you how to get there...!
